Hospitality inspired recpetion area of a corporate wellness center

An integrated workplace wellness environment designed to support employee health, retention, and organizational culture.

A medical exam room within a corporate wellness center.

Located within a corporate office building in Salt Lake City, Utah, this confidential client sought to redefine employee wellness through a comprehensive, hospitality-driven center available to both employees and their families at no cost.

Irwin Raymond was engaged to develop the brand strategy, spatial programming, and interior architecture for a multi-service wellness facility embedded directly within the workplace. The objective was to create an environment that communicates care, accessibility, and long-term support—extending beyond traditional corporate benefits.

The center also offers select services to other building tenants for a fee, positioning it as both an employee amenity and a broader community resource.

The Challenge

The success of this project required blending healthcare functionality with hospitality-inspired design—within a corporate building context.

Key challenges included:

  • Designing a medical exam room comparable to a retail-based minute clinic

  • Integrating lifestyle services such as a barber shop, nail salon, aesthetician room, and massage treatment room

  • Creating a cohesive experience across diverse programmatic functions

  • Ensuring the environment felt elevated rather than institutional

  • Balancing privacy, accessibility, and operational efficiency

The wellness center needed to feel unified—despite the varied nature of its services.

Our Strategy

We approached the project through our healthcare-as-hospitality framework, aligning brand integration, spatial programming, and experience design from the outset.

Our strategy focused on:

  • Establishing a cohesive brand language across clinical and lifestyle spaces

  • Designing intuitive circulation that separates private treatment areas from communal amenities

  • Introducing hospitality-driven materials and lighting to soften clinical elements

  • Creating distinct yet connected zones for medical, grooming, and wellness services

  • Ensuring operational efficiency while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere

Every decision reinforced the intention of creating a space where employees feel genuinely supported.

The Design Solution

The final environment integrates healthcare and personal services within a unified architectural language.

The medical exam room provides discreet, professional care, while adjacent amenities—including barber, nail, aesthetic, and massage rooms—offer restorative services within a refined setting. Warm materials, thoughtful lighting, and clear wayfinding establish a hospitality-forward tone throughout the space.

The result is a workplace wellness center that feels approachable, comprehensive, and intentionally designed—supporting both convenience and well-being.
