Bellagio Resort & Casino, a flagship property within the MGM Resorts International portfolio, is globally recognized for its sophistication, luxury, and timeless elegance.
As part of the property’s ongoing evolution, MGM Resorts International engaged Irwin Raymond to redesign and modernize Bellagio Essentials, the resort’s primary general merchandise and logo retail store.
The goal was to transform an outdated retail environment into a refined, hospitality-aligned retail experience that seamlessly integrates with the architectural and experiential standards of the Bellagio brand.
The Challenge
The existing store had not been renovated in over 25 years and no longer reflected the quality or identity of the Bellagio property.
Key challenges included:
An outdated and visually unappealing retail environment
Worn fixtures and mill-work that undermined brand perception
Poor lighting that diminished product presentation and guest experience
Architectural constraints, including a fixed dome ceiling and existing structural elements
The need to modernize the store while preserving harmony with the surrounding Bellagio environment
The redesigned space needed to feel natural, elegant, and entirely consistent with the guest experience expected within one of the world’s most iconic resorts.
Our Strategy
We approached the project through our experience-driven retail and hospitality framework, aligning the store’s architectural expression with the broader identity and guest experience of the Bellagio.
Our strategy focused on:
elevating material quality, lighting, and spatial clarity to reinforce luxury positioning
designing custom fixtures and mill-work that reflect the architectural language of the property
enhancing product visibility and merchandising flexibility
respecting and integrating with existing architectural elements, including the dome ceiling
coordinating vendors and managing procurement to ensure quality, precision, and budget alignment
Every design decision was made to support both guest experience and brand integrity.

Careful attention was given to scale, proportion, and detail to ensure the store feels fully integrated within its surroundings—neither competing with nor diminishing the architectural experience of the resort.
