A flagship retail store designed to translate a digital-first brand into a physical, experience-driven destination.

Lovestitch, a Los Angeles–based bohemian women’s clothing brand, had built a loyal following through wholesale partnerships and online sales—but had never created a physical retail environment of its own.

Following the success of the Lovestitch wholesale showroom prototype, the brand engaged Irwin Raymond to design its first open-to-the-public retail store in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles’s Arts District.

The goal was to create a vibrant, hospitality-inspired environment that would embody the brand’s identity while giving customers their first opportunity to fully experience Lovestitch in a physical setting.

The Challenge

Lovestitch had successfully grown as a wholesale and online brand—but had never translated its identity into a direct-to-consumer retail experience.

Key challenges included:

  • Converting a digitally native and wholesale-driven brand into a compelling physical retail environment

  • Creating a space that would clearly express the Lovestitch lifestyle and aesthetic

  • Designing a store capable of attracting both loyal customers and new audiences within a competitive retail district

  • Supporting both day-to-day retail operations and special events, brand activations, and influencer engagement

  • Establishing a flagship store that could serve as a physical embodiment of the brand’s identity

The store needed to feel authentic, immersive, and distinctly Lovestitch.

Our Strategy

We approached the project through our experience-driven retail and brand environment framework, aligning brand identity, customer journey, and spatial storytelling from the earliest design phases.

Our strategy focused on:

  • translating Lovestitch’s relaxed, bohemian aesthetic into architectural and material expression

  • creating an open, welcoming environment that encourages exploration and connection

  • designing flexible merchandising systems that support evolving collections

  • integrating visual transparency between retail and creative workspace to reinforce authenticity

  • coordinating vendors and managing project delivery to ensure design intent and quality

The store was conceived not simply as a place to shop—but as a physical expression of the brand’s creative culture.

The Design Solution

The final environment blends retail and creative studio influences into one cohesive brand experience.

Warm materials, natural textures, and open circulation create a welcoming atmosphere that reflects the effortless identity of the brand. Custom millwork and flexible merchandising fixtures allow collections to evolve while maintaining visual clarity and cohesion.

A defining feature of the project is the visual connection between the retail store and Lovestitch’s creative offices located at the rear of the space. Customers can see designers and stylists actively working—creating a sense of authenticity and theater, similar to an open kitchen concept in hospitality environments.

This transparency reinforces the creative process behind the brand and strengthens emotional connection with customers.

The Result

Lovestitch’s first dedicated retail store, establishing a direct physical connection with customers.

  • A vibrant brand environment that strengthens identity and customer loyalty

  • A flexible retail space capable of hosting events, influencer gatherings, and brand activations

  • A flagship environment that supports both brand growth and long-term retail strategy

The store now functions as both a retail destination and a living expression of the Lovestitch brand and creative culture.

    • Retail store design and interior architecture

    • Interior design and material strategy

    • Custom mill-work and fixture design

    • Vendor coordination and competitive bid analysis

  • This project marked Lovestitch’s transition from a wholesale and online brand into a fully realized direct-to-consumer retail experience—establishing a physical flagship that strengthens brand identity, customer connection, and long-term growth.

The store now serves as a destination for customers, influencers, and brand advocates alike.
